The price of diapers — coupled with the insane amount a child goes through — can lead to serious spending. In fact, according to Consumer Reports , it will run you about $2,500 to keep your kid diapered until she — joyfully — becomes potty trained.
Until then, there are some easy ways to help the diaper debt situation.

- Use generic or store brand diapers for day, brand names for night. Some parents see no difference between a generic diaper (which is almost always cheaper) and a name brand diaper, while others don’t think it’s worth the savings to have to deal with leakage. But, for older children who go through fewer diapers, or babies in child care during the day, try using the less expensive diapers before bedtime. If you try this switch and always, always use coupons (find them in newspapers, mailers, and online), it’s a small change that could lead to a bigger wallet.
