Ariana Grande - 1

Ariana Grande is coming under fire for her relationship after the release of her new single, “Yes And?”, hit streaming services last week. Although the singer has faced plenty of criticism for dating Wicked costar Ethan Slater at a time when it appeared that they were both still married to other people, the backlash has now officially been cranked up a few notches. Ariana has lost hundreds of thousands of followers on social media since the song came out — it’s not looking good.

Ariana’s new relationship has been making headlines.

In 2023, Ariana announced her divorce from husband Dalton Gomez just as news broke that she was reportedly dating her Wicked costar, Ethan. There was just one problem, though: Ethan was married , and he and his wife had only recently welcomed their first child into the world.

Even though Ariana hasn’t come forward to share the full story, these reports were enough to turn people against her.

Her new single isn’t exactly making things any better.

Some of the lyrics of the song seem to reference the public’s reaction to Ariana’s relationship with Ethan, which some fans believe means that she’s painting herself to be the victim in this situation.

“Your business is yours and mine is mine/Why do you care so much whose d— I ride?” she sings in one part of the song.

Now, Ariana is losing hundreds of thousands of followers.

Multiple news outlets have reported that Ariana has lost more than 350,000 Instagram followers since the release of her new song less than a week ago. Though the song is performing well on the charts — as of publishing, it was No. 1 on Apple Music — some of her existing fans seem to be rethinking their support of the singer.

Fans haven’t been shy about airing their takes on Ariana’s reported scandal.

“Will never shut up about how gross the Ariana Grande Ethan Slater situation is,” one person wrote.

Another tweeted, “as an Ariana Grande fan, ‘Yes And’ is a really icky way to address her starting a relationship with Ethan Slater while he was married with a newborn.”

At this point, it’s impossible to say what actually happened behind the scenes.

In July, Ethan’s estranged wife, Lilly Jay, told Page Six, “[Ariana’s] the story, really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage.”

Meanwhile, sources close to the situation have maintained that both Ariana and Ethan had been broken up from their partners before their relationship began.

We may never know the actual truth, but at this point, it’s not looking good for Ariana.
