With the 2024 presidential election just months away, things are starting to heat up on both sides of the aisle, and Brittany Mahomes — the wife of Kansas City Chiefs player Patrick Mahomes — has ended up in the middle of it. After Brittany was caught reportedly liking an Instagram post shared by Republican candidate Donald Trump, she’s being called out online, especially by fans of her new BFF, Taylor Swift . But now, Brittany is speaking out.
It all started when a post about Brittany’s recent Instagram ’like’ went viral.

Last week, a Taylor Swift fan account shared a screenshot that showed that Brittany’s Instagram account appeared as a like on a post shared by Donald Trump that outlined his campaign platform.
It didn’t take long for more accounts to start circulating the screenshot online.
The backlash caught on quickly.
Some people weren’t surprised to see that Brittany may support Trump, and others were upset that Taylor, who has made her political stance against the former president clear over the last few years, would associate with her knowing this.
“I’m disappointed in Brittany Mahomes. I like her a lot but this is not it,” one person tweeted , pointing out that Brittany’s husband, Patrick, and their children are biracial. “I could never vote for someone who is against my interracial relationship, his family who immigrated here.”
Brittany seemed to respond to the critics with a post on her Instagram Stories.

In an Instagram Stories post that has since expired, Brittany wrote (via The Cut), “I mean honestly, to be a hater as an adult, you have to have some deep rooted issues you refuse to heal from childhood. There’s no reason your brain is fully developed and you hate to see others doing well.”
She doubled down with another post a few days later.

On Monday, Brittany seemed to post another response to the situation, resharing a post from another account on her Instagram Stories that read, “Contrary to the tone of the world today … you can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind.”
Meanwhile, her husband appears to be staying neutral.

Back in April, Patrick didn’t share which candidate he planned to vote for while talking to Time instead encouraging everyone to " do the research ."
“I don’t want to pressure anyone to vote for a certain president. I want people to use their voice, whoever they believe in,” he told the magazine.
