Chrissy Teigen and John Legend shocked fans Wednesday when they made the surprise announcement that they had welcomed their fourth child earlier this month. The pair revealed that they were the proud parents to a new baby boy who was born earlier in the month via surrogate, satisfying Chrissy’s dream of being a mom of four. Congrats to the growing family!

Using a notes app, the newly minted mother of four shared the story of how she came to welcome another baby just months after giving birth to her daughter Esti.
She began the lengthy post by detailing she always wanted four children, remarking how even as a little girl she often carried around two sets of dolls, a pair for each arm.
She also talked about how the loss of her son influenced her decision.
Chrissy and John lost their son Jack at just 20 weeks, something she said made her hesitant to try and carry another baby on her own.
“To be honest, I’ve personally blocked out a lot of my mindset during that time, but one clear memory is being surrounded by people who wanted to make sure I wouldn’t go through that pain and loss again,” she wrote.
It was with this in mind that she and John visited a surrogacy agency in 2021 to discuss the possibility of having two tandem surrogates to welcome a set of babies to round out their family.
Chrissy had a change of heart and wanted to try to carry one of the two babies on her own.

Around the time Chrissy got pregnant with Esti, she met her surrogate, a woman named Alexandra.
“All our wishes and dreams aligned,” Chrissy wrote of the surrogate. “I wanted to be her friend, I wanted our children to play, I wanted dinner together, I wanted to lay my head on her belly and be able to feel the hiccups and kicks. I wanted them to be in our lives for as long as time would allow.”
Sadly, the first transfer they made didn’t work, and Alex fought to be ready to try again.

Chrissy detailed how she took the down time to enjoy her first trimester of pregnancy and prepare to welcome Esti while Alexandra readied for another transfer. Fortunately, that second shot worked, and Alexandra went on to carry Chrissy and John’s baby to term, an event the whole family celebrated together.
We imagine John and Chrissy are simply over the moon.

This seems like the best possible outcome for a family who experienced so much pain just a few years before when trying to expand their family.
We hope Chrissy, John, Miles, Luna, Esti and Wren Alexander Stephens are all enjoying this bonding time with one another. What a truly special way to spend a summer!
