As Jill Duggar prepares to release her tell-all memoir, Counting the Cost, critics are weighing in. After she shared an update on her book on Instagram, Jill got called out by those who believe she’s “selling out” her parents to make money as she tries to tell her own story.

It all started when Jill shared an exciting update about her book.

On Instagram, Jill shared a photo of herself in a studio, recording the audiobook for Counting the Cost, and thanked everyone in her life who helped make it happen.

“I’m so grateful to everyone who helped make this happen … from childcare in and out of the studio + all the other help, prayers and support! Thanks so much!” she wrote.

Some people weren’t impressed.

“Selling out your parents probably feels so fulfilling!!” one person wrote.

Another commenter added, “My parents weren’t perfect either. How do I get a book deal to throw them under the bus?”

One person even suggested that Jill shouldn’t keep the profits of her own hard work, writing, “Where are the proceeds of the book etc. going to out of interest?”

Fortunately, she also got a lot of support.

Commenters quickly pointed out that Jim Bob and Michelle had sold out their children, including Jill, to make money from reality TV — and Jill and Derick were even required to get lawyers involved to get the money they were never paid for their participation in the family’s TLC shows.

“They had no problem selling her out did they? Let it go,” one person wrote.

It seems important for Jill to be able to get the truth out.

According to what a source told In Touch earlier this month, Jill isn’t shy about criticizing her parents , so we should expect to see plenty of that in her book.

“Jill feels like she needs to do this for her own healing. She wants the truth out,” the source said.

‘Counting the Cost’ is out September 12.
