Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have finally addressed the reports that, after four years and two children , their marriage is coming to an end. Their update comes after days of reports and speculation that they would be going their separate ways, with TMZ being the first to break the news. Joe and Sophie had remained quiet about all of this until now, but they’re breaking their silence with a joint statement as the rumor mill continues to churn.
The couple has finally spoken out.

“After four years of wonderful marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they wrote in a joint statement shared to Instagram. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Still, new reports about what really went wrong continue to surface.

One of those “speculative narratives” the couple mentioned in their statement likely comes from a new report from TMZ that claims Joe “saw/heard” something on a Ring camera that was the “last straw” in their marriage.
Per the news outlet, sources close to the former couple say Joe saw something in doorbell cam footage that finalized his decision. One insider also said that the pair’s lifestyles could be to blame for the split.
“She likes to party, he likes to stay at home. They have very different lifestyles,” the person shared.
Many people close to Joe and Sophie reportedly saw the divorce coming.

Joe and Sophie have spent “the whole summer apart,” according to what another source told People .
“They were not separated but they’ve been living separate lives for months,” the source explained, adding that the divorce wasn’t a “surprise” to those close to the pair.
It seems as if they’re trying to keep things civil.

The source also added that the estranged couple “haven’t gotten along in a while, but they’re hoping to resolve this all amicably.”
Even though Joe had already retained a divorce lawyer, he was seen wearing his wedding band during a Jonas Brothers show, leading to confusion for fans who weren’t sure what to believe until the couple released their official statement.
They’re still figuring out a custody arrangement.
“As far as custody goes, this literally all just happened, so they’re figuring it out in real time,” the source told People regarding the couple’s two young daughters. “The kids were with him the last few months, traveling with him with family while he’s been on tour. Sophie’s been working in the UK.”
When Joe filed for divorce, the filing claimed, “the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken.”
