As the royal family prepares to celebrate Trooping the Colour in less than a week, Kate Middleton is speaking out. Though the Princess of Wales has remained rather quiet this year — including after sharing a video that revealed she has been diagnosed with cancer — now she’s addressing the Irish Guards in a new letter. Though she was originally supposed to attend the parade ahead of the big event, now she’ll be skipping out on the festivities in light of her health crisis.
Kate sent the letter to a regiment of the British Army.
The Irish Guards were deeply touched to receive a letter from our Colonel, Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales this morning. We continue to wish Her Royal Highness well in her recovery and send Her our very best wishes. As the colonel of the Irish Guards, Kate was due to attend a parade called the Colonel’s Review, which is the Guards’ final rehearsal before participating in Trooping the Colour on Saturday. But because she’s no longer able to make it, she sent a letter apologizing that she would have to miss out.
Kate said she hopes she’ll be able to represent them again ‘very soon.’
“I wanted to write and let you know how proud I am of the entire Regiment ahead of the Colonel’s Review and Trooping the Colour,” she wrote. “I appreciate everyone trooping this year has been practicing for months, and dedicating many hours to ensuring their uniforms and drill are immaculate.”
Kate continued, “Being your Colonel remains a great honour, and I am very sorry that I’m unable to take the salute at this year’s Colonel’s Review.”
The love and respect seem to be mutual.

Lt. Col. James Shaw issued a statement to GB News on behalf of the part of the military that performs in Trooping the Colour.
“We wish the Colonel of the Irish Guards the best of best wishes for her recovery. And again, the Irish Guards are hugely proud to have her as their Colonel and want to put on a really special show this year,” he said.
Kate’s cancer battle has reportedly been ‘grueling.’

According to what royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight , treatment has reportedly been very difficult for Kate.
“She’s going through very grueling treatment that has really taken its toll on her,” Nicholl said. “While I’m told that she’s turned a corner and she’s doing better, she’s still going to be prone to infection as she goes through this preventative chemotherapy.”
That’s likely one of the biggest reasons she’s avoiding public appearances — to protect her immune system.
She could surprise people on Saturday.

There’s always a chance that Kate could show up on the balcony at Buckingham Palace on Saturday with the rest of the family, which might help alleviate some of the public’s concerns about her condition.
Whatever she chooses, hopefully Kate is feeling better every day.
It’s already been nearly six months since Kate Middleton last appeared in public in an official capacity, and we may have even longer to wait before we see her returning to her royal duties. Though the Princess of Wales has been clear that she needs to take time off while undergoing preventative chemotherapy, the conspiracy theories haven’t slowed down for a minute – and now, royal insiders are claiming that Kate has no plans to be seen in public for the rest of the year. What’s going on?!

According to what a royal insider told the Daily Beast, the family plans their events well in advance, and for Kate, that means no plans through the end of 2024.
“Lots of people involved in planning need to know what all the principals are doing a long way in advance,” the source said. “I am told that Kate’s diary for this year is empty. There is nothing planned. She may not appear in public for the rest of the year.”
Right now, work just isn’t on Kate’s mind.
Not that anyone could blame her, of course. After a planned abdominal surgery revealed cancer earlier this year, Kate’s now in treatment, and even though she has seemed optimistic about the future so far, it makes sense that taking care of herself would come first.
“The key thing for her now is avoiding any kind of stress or anxiety and just getting on with the business of getting better,” a source close to Kate told the news outlet.
She’s getting ready to spend the summer in privacy.
The friend said that Kate, Prince William, and their three children are planning to head to the family’s country estate, Sandringham, as soon as school is out for the summer. There, she’ll be able to have more privacy than she would closer to the city — and hopefully be able to enjoy her time with George, Charlotte, and Louis while they’re out of school.
This report isn’t doing much to quiet the conspiracy theorists.
i’m fully back on the kate middleton conspiracy train — vibe instructor✌ (@Vanessa_ABee) May 24, 2024
In fact, it seems the report may have only spurred them on, judging by what people are now saying on X (formerly Twitter).
“So soft announcing that she’s been dumped by her husband and the rest of #thatfamily now that she’s no longer useful?” one person wrote .
Fingers crossed for an update on Kate soon.

According to what one royal source told the Daily Beast, it could come in the form of another video.
“I would not rule out another video message updating the country on her health,” the insider said. “That proved to be a very effective way of keeping the conspiracy theorists at bay.”
