Seven months after Lisa Marie Presley’s unexpected death , we finally have answers about what caused her death. At the time, we knew she went into cardiac arrest, but now that the report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner is in, we know exactly what led to the emergency that day.
The report stated there was no evidence of foul play.

Lisa Marie Presley died because of “sequelae of a small bowel obstruction ,” which deputy medical examiner Dr. Juan M. Carillo said was a result of “adhesions (or, scar tissue) that developed after bariatric surgery years ago,” CNN reported.
“This is a known long term complication of this type of surgery,” he said.
She had a few medications in her system at the time.

Even though Carillo said that they may have made it more likely for her to develop the small bowel obstruction, nothing was amiss with what she was taking.
At the time of her death, Lisa Marie had taken oxycodone at normal “therapeutic” levels, an anti-depressant called quetapine metabolite, and a painkiller called buprenorphine.
This news comes just as the matter of Lisa Marie’s estate was settled.

In June, news broke that Lisa Marie’s oldest daughter, Riley Keough, had become the sole trustee of her estate in accordance with her late mother’s will. That also means Riley is now the owner of Graceland, and she’s overseeing the trusts left to her younger sisters, Harper and Finley.

After finding out that she had been nominated for an Emmy for her performance in Daisy Jones & the Six, Riley shared a throwback photo of her mom with her late brother, Benjamin Keough, on Instagram. She simply wrote, “Missing you both.”
Hopefully, this news will allow Lisa Marie’s family to continue to heal.
