Fans wondered why it took Janelle Brown so long to leave husband Kody Brown in the dust, and now, they might finally have their answer. In a recent episode of Sister Wives, Janelle revealed that she had “nothing” financially toward the end of her marriage to Kody, leaving her feeling “stuck” in the relationship when things began to go sour. And at 50 years old, Janelle admitted that she felt embarrassed she had managed to get herself into such a terrible position.
Fans saw a massive fight between Janelle and Kody on the show.

The tension between them had been building after Christine chose to leave the family, and it seemed as if Janelle was preparing to do the same thing, especially after a fight on camera between her and Kody led to him angrily leaving her house.
There was just one thing getting in the way of her walking away herself, though: money.
Janelle admitted that she had ’nothing’ in the bank.

“I don’t know who this guy is. Maybe this is who he always was, I don’t know. But I don’t recognize this very mean person,” she said on the show. “I’m stuck, I’m stuck. Financially, I have nothing.”
Fans of the show know that money has been tight for Janelle recently. After she was unable to find a place to live when the family moved to Flagstaff, she ended up moving into a camper, but that wasn’t a long-term solution, and she quickly had to find an apartment of her own.
Meanwhile, her money was tied up in Coyote Pass, the land the family bought when they first relocated in the hopes of building homes for each of them close together.
Jenelle admitted on multiple confessionals that she felt ‘stuck.’

“I can’t believe I’m 50 and I can’t even do my own thing ‘cause I’m so tied up with them financially. I’m stuck. I can’t believe I got myself into this position. How dumb is that? I know better,” she said.
We know now that she was, eventually, able to leave.

In December 2022, Janelle confirmed on the Sister Wives tell-all special that she and Kody had split a little over a year after Christine and Kody announced their own divorce. It appears this is something we’ll see unfold on this season of Sister Wives as Kody and Janelle’s relationship becomes more and more volatile.
Janelle does seem happier these days.

It doesn’t seem as if Janelle has any regrets — at least, not according to her Instagram posts, which show her happily living the single life (including a recent international trip to Europe with Christine and some of their children).
It’ll certainly be interesting to follow Janelle’s journey to leaving the family on this season of Sister Wives.
